Reflection on Reading Treatise on Cold Damage
Through in-depth study of Zhang Zhongjing's "Treatise on Cold Damage", I have felt the profound foundation of classical medical literature. This book is not only a classic of traditional Chinese medicine, but also a treasure of Chinese culture. During the reading process, I was attracted by Zhang Zhongjing's delicate brushstrokes and profound medical theories, and also noticed his unique use of dialects in his works.
In the Treatise on Cold Damage, Zhang Zhongjing used a large number of dialect writing techniques, such as "middle", "not middle", "endure", "how many", etc. These words were not common in modern Chinese, but at that time they were close to the people and expressed in a simple and easy to understand way. This writing technique not only makes medical books more accessible and understandable, but also endows them with a strong local color and folk atmosphere. Through these dialect vocabulary, I seem to be able to travel through time and space, feeling the intimate communication scenes between ancient doctors and patients.
The simple dialect evaluation of "middle" and "not middle" directly reflects the effectiveness of treatment and the quality of the condition, which is very intuitive and easy to understand. The word "boil" reflects the ancient people's emphasis on the process of medicinal decoction and their rigorous attitude towards the details of treatment. As for the overlapping words like "how many", they give people a warm and popular feeling, making advanced medical knowledge no longer unattainable.
How many times is it that you can't tilt freely? It's just that your entire waist is stiff, unable to bend, and unable to lift your head up. It's just that your waist is so hard that it makes a creaking sound. What is the dialect for.
In the process of reading this book, I deeply realized that Zhang Zhongjing's use of dialects is not only for the sake of making the language easy to understand, but also to get closer to the general public, so that medical knowledge can be disseminated and applied on a wider range. This writing technique not only reflects the benevolence of doctors, but also demonstrates Zhang Zhongjing's foresight and wisdom in popularizing medicine.
